UK Asset Manager – Change Committee Representation and Project Implementation
This asset management client had selected a solution to replace numerous applications within their technical architecture and the implementation project was significantly larger than any they had supported themselves in the past. Due to the extensive nature of the project and the costs associated with on-going professional services costs, the client engaged Pentagon to attend and support steering committee meetings to ensure critical issues were addressed in the most efficient manner, whilst depending on Pentagon’s previous experience on implementing the solution.
A Pentagon senior consultant acted as a member of the client’s steering/change committee, providing advice and experience relating to the implementation of a major vendor solution, supporting the project on a weekly basis.
Pentagon further supported the client by providing an experienced Project Manager who supported the implementation of the solution which involved working with a relatively small client side project team. Pentagon’s Project Manager coordinated all of the tasks undertaken by the client’s resources – effectively managing and contributing to multiple work streams. A critical element of the role was to ensure that the solution was configured to suit the client’s detailed business requirements.
Challenges included the management of professional services costs along with the availability and utilisation of internal personnel to support project tasks and activities associated with a project of this scale.
The project was delivered on time and within budget. Pentagon’s involvement in the entire process was considered critical, as the project timeline was limited and slippage in the project plan represented significant cost for the client.
