UK Asset Manager - OMS Selection Support and Implementation

Assignment Summary

Pentagon were engaged to undertake an independent RFP process to identify an Order Management System that could accommodate the specific needs of this client.

Approach

Following the receipt of responses from multiple vendors, the client turned to Pentagon for support in establishing a short-list based on Pentagon’s understanding of their requirements. Pentagon’s knowledge and implementation experience with the key systems offered in the market, including functional coverage and implementation challenges aided the client’s evaluation process. From an established short-list of two possible solutions, Pentagon advised the client on the pros and cons of each option in order to assist them in the final decision making process, in which thinkFolio was selected.

Challenges

The client could not make an informed decision from the RFP response, which is a common issue experienced by a number of clients. RFPs are not always created with clear areas for differentiators and vendor responses rarely include indications of limitations or negative responses in general. When evaluating responses, clients often find a number of solutions appear to be equal in value and additional factors must be considered to assess the best options for their ‘actual’ needs.

Outcome

Pentagon went on to successfully project manage the implementation of the solution, alongside the Business Analysts assigned to the project, configuring thinkFolio and integrating it with the client’s portfolio accounting system.
